Extreme Makeover

Exhausted I sit here at the computer knowing I need to write. Do I feel like writing? NO! A thousand times - NO! The last couple of days we've been destroying our front bathroom in the name of the gods of Home Improvement.(Thus my absence from writing...) It's been crazy long hours pulling sheet rock from the walls, smashing tiles, and creating a mushroom cloud of dust that has managed to cover my entire dwelling. There's tons of crap that right now has no home. It has taken over the rest of my house. I just have to do what I can to live around it, to feed my family, and to make life as normal as possible. I've got a head full of snot, feet full of pain, and kids with the same.  BUT, when we're done, we'll have a beautiful new bathroom that will add relaxation to my life and value to our home at the time of sale. SO WE KEEP MOVING!!!! We don't stop.

It's getting worse before it's going to get better. There's the huge mess; we're all in horrible pain; nobody's slept - really slept - for days... BUT, if we stop now, we'll always and forever be in this stress mess. There will always be a nasty, torn apart bathroom that can't be used as it is. There will always be a pile of bottles containing various lotions, cremes and shampoos along with shower curtain rods, empty boxes, tubes of caulk and hammers scattered and strewn about the house. We could stop for a day to rest and re-coop, but imagine how our lives would be if we were to leave our home like this. It wouldn't really be a home. Sure, we're getting along, but it's not fun. It's not relaxing. It's not REALLY living.

How many times do we feel like giving up when it comes to health and fitness? How many of those times have we allowed it to beat us? ALL OF THEM?!?

YES, I'll admit: it's beaten me every time! NO more!!! If we think about this logically, it makes complete sense. I'm not going to give up on my bathroom because it's a difficult, painful, drawn out process. I'm going to think about how great it will feel when the bathroom's complete. So, how much better will I feel when I AM fit?

My life as an unfit person has been like life with my house right now. I'm getting along day to day, but it's not fun; it's not relaxing. It's not REALLY LIVING! So, even though I'm tired and possibly in pain, I'll keep plugging away. I'll keep fueling my engine with the right fuel. I'll make sure I have the appropriate tools for the job, and I'LL KEEP GOING! I will reach the end of my own physical renovation. Soon, it won't feel like a project. I'll enjoy it, because I can see I'm making a difference.

Here's to Extreme Makeover: ME Edition.

Let's do it for you.
